Configuring Hotmail or Outlook account in Outlook 2003
- In Outlook 2003, on the Tools menu, click E-mail Accounts.
- In the E-mail Accounts dialog box, select Add a new e-mail account.
- In the E-mail Accounts - Server Type dialog box, select IMAP.
- In the E-mail Accounts - Internet E-mail Settings (IMAP) dialog box, do the following:

- In the Server Information section, do the following:
- At the bottom-right of the E-mail Accounts - Internet E-mail Settings (IMAP) dialog box, click More Settings.
- In the Internet E-mail Settings dialog box, in the Outgoing Server tab, do the following:
- Select My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication.
- Select Use same settings as my incoming mail server.
- In the Internet E-mail Settings dialog box, select the Advanced tab.
- In the Advanced tab, do the following:
- In the Incoming server (IMAP) section:
- In the Outgoing server (SMTP) section, do the following:
- Click OK.
- In the E-mail Accounts - Internet E-mail Settings (IMAP) dialog box, select Next.
In the Your Name text box, enter your name.
In the E-mail Address text box, enter the email address of the email account that you want to add to Outlook 2003.
In the User Name text box, enter the email address of the email account that you want to add to Outlook 2003.
In the Password text box, enter the password for the account that you want to add to Outlook 2003.
For Incoming mail server (IMAP), specify the server name that is shown in IMAP4 settings for your Microsoft email account. The server name that is shown there could be imap-mail.outlook.com.
For Outgoing mail server (SMTP), specify the server name smtp-mail.outlook.com.
Specify the port number that is shown in IMAP4 settings for your Microsoft email account. Select This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL) only if the information in IMAP4 settings for your Microsoft email account indicates that the encryption method is SSL.
Specify port 25.
Clear the This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL) check box.
